Thanks for the report. But for MS-Windows problems it would be most
appreciated if you contacted the Cygwin folks directly. That platform
is not well understood here.

Does MS-Windows even have the concept of file modes? I thought they
handled all of that with file extensions? I assume that in order to
map capabilities that Cygwin would need to make some compromises.
