I'm generally in favour.
If we make a change here I'd prefer to make one we can live with for
years than a change that seems like a good compromise but doesn't
really solve the problem. If we need an incompatible change, we
should be brave enough to make it, but let's just do it once :)
One possibility might be to be able to say --prunepath=A and
--prunepath=B in order to have paths A and B both pruned. (Note this
option name is differene to --prunepaths).
But feel free to think up a well-engineered alternative to what we
have now. If we engineer a good updatedb programinterface, we can
always leave the option of making a separate compatibility shim for
people not yet willing to change their command lines.
