gtags-rootdir

I have set gtags-rootdir to ~/programming but after my first tag find
when it moves from a file to another file in another directory then
gtags-find-tag reports that it can not find GTAGS.

If I only have one GTAGS fie then gtags-rootdir is the right setting?
