That system sounds absolutely fine to me! How would we
number them though? I assume it would be an
auto-incremental system, so that the first article is
1.0, the second is 2.0 etc. How would we do this
though, other than by magic? I suppose the perl script
handling the submissions could have with it a text
file with the last submission number in it, which it
could open, read, and autoincrement then name the
article submitted that number, then overwrite the
number in the text file with the number number, save
and exit. The problem with this is that it limits us
to only having one submission at a time on one server,
because otherwise you might get two or three articles
with the same number if they all submitted at the same
time. This gives us little scope for greater
processing power on the server side. Suggestions?
