You specifically asked to be told how to see something similar in Less, 
so I did that.  Is something wrong with that?

The point is, Less does let you set the size of the page, and once set, 
SPC and DEL don't change it.  It's obvious to me that someone who wrote 
view.el tried to provide similar functionality.

For example, if you use `z' in view-mode, and then resize the window, 
what would you like Emacs to do about the page size?
