 of 2001-10-23 on a8.complang.tuwien.ac.at
configured using `configure  --without-toolkit-scroll-bars --prefix /tmp'

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

(set-face-stipple 'default (list 1 4 "\001\001"))

yields an error.  It worked in 20.7
