In effect, Emacs isn't receving the character. This particular keychord on this 
keyboard type (105 keys PC keyboard) doesn't produce an event, as reported by 
xev on X.

It's the only invalid keychord that falls upon a default Emacs binding in my 
setup, but you can expect similar difficulties in other non-US layouts.
