I started mrxvt from xterm:

    $ xterm
    $ echo $TERM
    xterm
    $ mrxvt &

    mrxvt$ echo $TERM
    rxvt
    <terminal is open in black on white>

mrxvt$ COLORFGBG=1 emacs -Q -nw
=> Same color results as in previously attached picture
