bug#9185: 24.0.50; "C-s M-p" does not bring the tip of the search ring

Could you quote a sentence in the thread that supports such claim?

At the end, both Deniz and Jury agreed with me that it would be better
to make M-p bring the top of the search ring, and Andread Just pointed
out an alternative way to achieve that with the current Emacs.  So I
don't see any opposition for the change (except yours).

For God's sake... what do people expect M-p to do but get the _previous_ thing?
