This used to be used as a joke in Emacs source.  Nowadays we should use
the name of a Free Software instead.

FreeDOS maybe?

That would be confusing (since it's still best known as MS-DOS) and inconsistent (since Emacs calls it MS-DOS or ms-dos everywhere). But if my suggestion about the patterns is taken, these comments will disappear anyway.
