Yes, your input file is written for an older version of
Lilypond, the syntax has changed. It's a good practice
to include a
\version "1.3.xx"
declaration in the Lilypond files, where xx is set to the
corresponding Lilypond version. If you have that, you can
use the program convert-ly to automatically upgrade your
input files.
For \key signature declarations, in particular, you should
now say
\key g \major;
to get the major key.
