Hi Daniel,

sorry, no that is not what I mean. You can install
pspp in the usual location. What I propose is:

Go to a normal user directory and unpack the source 

Run

configure
make
make check

as normal user. The run

sudo make install 

as root to install it in the usual location. Maybe
this helps us to understand the problem.
