Problem with tar and multi-byte characters! |

Hi all,
I am attempting to use tar on NT with path names that include multi-byte
Japanese characters. I'm using a tar port obtained from
http://www.iro.umontreal.ca/contrib/paxutils/ which otherwise works ok on
NT. In particular, the multi-byte character sequence 0x83, 0x5c causes
problems. The issue is that the trailing byte is being seen (I'm guessing)
as a path separator character, and not as part of a character sequence!
Anyone got any ideas? Is there perhaps an NT tar port the correctly handles
multi-byte characters? Or maybe I need to setup my environment somehow? (I'm
using W2k with the Japanese lang pack/fonts ..etc)
regards,
dave
PS: I would appreciate a reply to my email address if possible.
