It is not a typo. AC_TRY_COMPILER and AC_TRY_COMPILE are quite
different macros.
You simply cannot use autoconf-2.52 to regenerate a configure file
that was created with autoconf-2.13. Sometimes it works, sometimes
(like in the case of gettext) it doesn't.

Thanks for the tip, but gettext will continue to use autoconf-2.13 for
at least a year.
