ld coredump on AIX

I'm getting a coredump from ld on AIX 4.3.3 while attempting to link to the
xerces-c shared library. (http://xml.apache.org/xerces-c/) The coredump
happens iff the xerces-c library is included on the commandline.

This is with binutils version 2.11.94

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself:
"Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and
"ind". What do these words mean ? It's a mystery, and that's why so is
mankind.
