wc needs --human-readable

wc needs --human-readable |

Gentlemen, consulting the wc(1) man page, one sees no option to print
things out in easy to understand English, etc. E.g. it is only a
computer whiz who can grok
$ wc .emacs
712 2768 26633 .emacs
why can't one get it to say which ones are lines, which ones are
words, which ones are characters, if one insists. I mean several
other commands already have --human-readable or something. Yes, one
could "write a function", but do you really want to be "user friendly
is not an option"?
