Help needed regarding tar.gz

Hello,
I got ur mail id @ http://mail.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/help-gnu-utils and i have a problem with the attached m8086.tar.gz file.
 
The extracted files seem to be encoded and the pdf files do not open in acrobat reader. I have also attached a sample file [biu_ctrl.vhd, it is a text file] extracted from m8086.tar.gz.
 
iam using  using winzip 8.0 on win NT4.0.
 
Kindly advice how to unzip the files.
