Sirs,

Using tar --no-same-owner -xzf filename.tgz causes unusual behavior depending on who I am logged in as.

1) If I am logged in as root then the extraced files are owned by root, and group owner is also root.

2) If I am logged in as myself (nickt) then the extracted files are owned by root and the group owner is myself (nickt).

I am using tar version 1.13.17 which comes as standard with REdHat. 6.2.

What I would like is to extract the files and have the new files owned by myself.

Is this possible.

Regards

Nick Thomas.
