tar 1.13.25 vs gcc 3.3 on solaris8 - creation problem? |

Hi; I'm getting problems with most of the 'make check' tests
on tar 1.13.25, using gcc 3.3 on a sparc-solaris8 box; I
believe it worked with gcc 3.2.x in a similar context.
The 'tar' produced *reads* archives correctly, but doesn't
create them properly. With the previous compilation of this
tar, I get an archive with fields 'mode'..'typeflag' of:
0100644<null>0000775<null>0023423<null>00000141520<null>07664743107<null>011704<null>
0
But with the tar in question, I get:
0000004<null>0000005<null>0000003<null>00000000000<null>00000000007<null>000005<null>
0
(which is plainly bogus-looking). Ideas?
I will happy to dig a bit further; obviously, I might have
missed something. Keep up the good work,
Will
