checking with grep and wc, there is indeed a duplicate line, and dpkg -s says 
that
lib-prefix.m4 belongs to the gettext package. i'm marking this grave because 
gettext
fails on this error, causing me to be unable to compile programs that use run 
gettext
as part of compiling.
