Gzip problem

I am using gzip 1.2.4 on 2 IBM AIX 4.3.1 servers (current and backup server).  I'm having some trouble uncompressing a file on the backup server.  The file is 1.5 gigs before compression and 250 megs after compression.  On our current server I can gzip and gzip -d the file with no problem.  I send the compressed file over to the backup server and get the following error when I try and gzip -d it.

# gzip -d LAB.gz

gzip: LAB: File too large

The only big difference in the two servers is the current system has 4 gigs of RAM and the backup server only has 2 gigs.

You can call me at the number listed below or email me back if there are further questions.

Thanks for any help you can provide...
