Back in April of this year I reported a bug in plotutils-2.4.1 and posted
a patch to bug-gnu-utils
(http://mail.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-gnu-utils/2003-04/msg00285.html)
Someone wrote to me that a patched libplot backend works for most fonts
except the common URW symbol font, where it generates postscript that
fails with a rangecheck error.
I've refined the patch (attached) to account for the common but
little-known postscript font bug whereby a font's FontBBox entry may be an
executable procedure (which pushes four integers) instead of an array of
four integers. The result works with all fonts we've tried.
Since this bug has been present since 2.4.1 was relased back in 2000, does
this mean that plotutils is unmaintained? or seldom used?
