I wish it would, but it's not. Read the message I wrote after that.

And this would be indeed enough. This is relevant line in my
current debian/rules:

        cp -a debian/tmp/usr/lib debian/$@/usr

This is done in the target that creates the debian "gettext" package
(i.e. gettext-tools in the official naming scheme).


Are you sure that it's enough that gcj is in the PATH, or do I also
need to configure it as the java compiler to be used in the initial
configure call (I'm currently using jikes-classpath).
