This might explain why I got no responses. Sorry for any double posts,
but now sending to apparently the correct list:

Greetings -

Attempting to compile gettext-0.14.5 on Solaris 9 (patched to date).
Apparently the bundled libtool is "serial 47 AC_PROG_LIBTOOL". I've noted
that the gettext rpath.README indicates that certain tests will "normally"
fail... and I presume not to worry about them. Indeed, the 6 listed
Solaris tests do fail, and I guess I don't need to worry about them:
    rpath-3bae rpath-3bbe
    rpath-3aaf rpath-3abf
    rpath-3baf rpath-3bbf

However, there are some (4) other tests that are failing, and I don't know
whether to worry about them or not. I'm not sure what their failure
implies, either alone or coupled with the above solaris specific failures.
All other tests seem to pass, except above and:
        FAIL: rpath-2aac
        FAIL: rpath-2abc
        FAIL: rpath-3aac
        FAIL: rpath-3abc

Suggestions for fixing this? Don't worry about it? Run away screaming?
:)

thanks!
ivo

PS - the actual messages I get for those four are the same usual ones for
other errors:

ld: fatal: library -lrpathy: not found
ld: fatal: File processing errors. No output written to usey
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `usey'
Current working directory
/builds/gettext-0.14.5/autoconf-lib-link/tests/tstdir/rp2aac-build3

I can give full output upon request if that isn't enough...
