first of all i`m not really sure this is a bug, i am just curious on
how sed is supposed to behave.

i was talking to folks on #sed on freenode and we found out some weird
behaviour:

23:59 < beli> address@hidden echo "aaaa" | sed 's+a\++matched+'
                 [~]
23:59 < beli> matched

sed 4.0.9 and some 3.x sed.

00:00 < redduck666> address@hidden tar $ echo "aaaa" | sed 's+a\++matched+'
00:00 < redduck666> aaaa

i have this on sed 4.1.1 other people re-produced the same behaviour
on 4.1.4 and 4.1.2.

which behaviour is from you as developer(s) expected?
