Yes, this is consistent with the doc that I now find at
http://forge.novell.com/modules/xfmod/project/?yast
I also found the source of the YCP parser in
http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source/suse/src/yast2-core-2.13.22-3.src.rpm
