Sure, why not.  However, please note that I'm not maintaining gawk,
it's Arnold's call whether to take the patch or not, in either form.

Oh, I have no idea if some software maintainers find such patches
annoying, but I certainly don't, for packages I take care of; on the
contrary, every bit helps.  It might still take me a while to get to
patches, and AFAIK Arnold works in batches too.
