I think you're missing the point. The problem is not with sed, it's with
your shell, which isn't going to work the same as with the examples in
sed's manual, since those examples are intended for Unix (Bourne-style)
shells. The > has absolutely nothing to do with sed whatsoever.
Your best bet is to try a group geared towards running shell programs in
Windows, or ideally a group specifically for running Unix-style commands
in Windows command prompt.
Or, get MSYS or Cygwin, and use sed from there.
