Cheating (RE: [Bug-gnubg] Game Record )

Even supposing you decide to only review your mistakes, I would think
that it would be still best to start with the game from Game 1, Move 1
and then start from the first mistake to the last. Unless you are saying
you start with your last mistake and work yourself backwards.... :-)

My concern about cheating as per my other post on this, in which I
misunderstood which Game Record suggestion referred to, still goes here.
Right now it is just a little easy to do so with GNU, and that is my
largest concern. I don't think the program needs to be tainted with
this. It is much harder with Snowie as it takes its time converting
matches (and it isn't a coincidence) and even so starts at the first
move, which is logical anyhow. Since for reviewing games, there seems no
point in my view to start with the last position, whether reviewing all
the moves, or only the mistakes. GNU is instant and goes straight to the
last move. I think that's an invitation for people with a less
scrupulous nature to abuse, and would like to curb this if possible.

The *last* thing I want is for GNU to be geared to be able to get the
latest position on Gamesgrid in the least possible time for quick and
instant analysis. This problem of cheating exists with backgammon as it
is, and in chess it is simply rampant. The difference is that no one
really bets in chess other than rating points, whereas wagers in
backgammon are normal and common.

                                                        Albert

-------------------------------------------------

While the current behaviour does require extra keystrokes/mouse
clicks
to navigate to the beginning of a match for analysis, that's a process
that
is not real-time anyway (since you have to wait for GNU to analyse the
match). And much of the time I am analysing a match I don't have time
to
step through the entire match, so I will usually browse through the
match
for "problem areas (?? and ?!)" and thus I don't necessarily find it
advantageous to be at Game1, Move1.

Thanks,

Ned
