Hi,
I've got a bug and a question. The bug first:
Set Evaluation chequer play and cube to (e.g.) World class with 33% speed.
Reinvoke Evaluation settings: Speed now listed as 25%.
Accept with OK (no changes).
Reinvoke Evaluation settings: settings again like World class standard.
Further tries suggest that always one step lower than adjusted will be set.
The same applies for Analysis.
Now to the related question:
Since the move filters have been introduced I'm trying to find reasonable
settings. Unfortunately, my computer isn't one of the fastest (P1-MMX 233).
Which method should give the better result in terms of a compromise between
speed and reliable results: Reducing the search space with the move filters
or (presumably also reducing the search space ?) by reducing the speed
setting?
Here it takes ages to analyse a 7pt match (200 moves) on World class (even
with -O3 and Pentium optimised). IMHO there should be one or two predefined
levels between the Expert and World Class settings as I think 2ply usually
is preferred.
Regards,
Holger
