I've gathered a lot of C-program snippets about sockets.
Combined with the existing code and your updates, it must be possible to get
a neat external.c.

I'll keep you posted.

external.c compiles now without problems. The next problem comes with gdk_threads_init as we don't have it in GTK+ 1.3. Also, I haven't yet touched gnubg.c to adjust the socket calls to the WSA.. versions.
