See if disabling shadows helps. It should effectively double the speed
of the 3D rendering. It's true the 3D is a bit slow (I can run Unreal
Tournament in a window), and I can't account for it, but it's such a
pleasure playing with it that I'm not going to complain, especially
since I have no idea as to the difficulties involved.
