You need to update your gnubg.gtkrc file; it defined the styles used for
the moves. THe latest version of the file can be downloaded from

However, I'm not sure how much it differs from the file distributed with
the windows version. Also, the file is made for gtk2 rather than gtk1.3
(uncomment the lines with "font" and comment out lines with
"font_name").

I'd make a backup copy of your old gnubg.gtkrc before installing the
file above.
