You can't play over a network connection at the moment (strangely the
only network option is to play against gnubg remotely), I'll add it to
my "things to do" list as a few people have asked for this and in theory
it should quite easy to do (that doesn't mean I'll do it any time soon,
but you never know).

Jon

I've only written one small net game myself and the passive human vs human net play was easy. You've done the hard work in all the glitz and having such an intelligent player in the computer. I have a list of features I'd be interested in having available in two-player mode but you sound quite busy so I don't want to swamp you with my ideas. Having said that I recommended GNUbg today at work to my colleagues so I have a team of "testers" ready as soon as you do get into the 2-player side of things.

On the bugs side of things, I have a DELL 9200 laptop which runs gnubg fine as it has a good graphics card inside. My other PC is a PII with no 3D card at all and gnubg crashes when it tries to start up. Is 3D acceleration required even if I just want to have a 2D view of the board on that PC?
The error I get from the Windows crash dialog is:

AppName: gnubg.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: gnubg.exe
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0002f74b

Nothing is reported on the command line. I ran the no-gui version and it gave the following before also generating the windows crash dialog.

GNU Backgammon 0.14.3-devel
