I decided to install the windows build available on the site (with python
and DB support built in). The first thing I noticed is that the Colour
picker in 3d mode displays all BLACK in the preview pane (The 2d colour
picker works).

I noticed (and fixed this) the other day! Along with saving boards as png files.

This is an interesting bug considering the 3d color picker causes problems
on OS/X. Have any of the windows developers who did the mingw build seen
this? Or maybe it is just my windows box? (VMWARE 5 Workstation).

I am betting that there is a relationship between the 3d colour picker
problem on windows and the one that crashes OS/X.

Maybe, it turns out that the newer gtk stuff wasn't happy with the default colour depth parameter. I've set it to 24bit, I guess this means it might not work at 16bit resolutions - I'll try that out.
