I don't believe it is much difference. Maybe Joseph knows. What I know 
is that you can get the weights here:

ftp://ftp.demon.nl/pub/games/gnubg/nn-training/nets

The version numbers of the weights and gnubg has been a bit 
unsynchronized for a while. A lot of confusion here.

Are you thinking of taking up some training?
