[Bug-gnubg] Starting gnubg from a menu item in Ubuntu/Gnome

I have tried to start gnubg from a menu item in Ubuntu. The command in my menu item is '/home/misja/gnubg/gnubg'
When I click it, gnubg does start, I hear the starting sound and see for a very short while a backgammon board, but then it exits without any warning or error message.
I do not have this problem when I start gnubg from a terminal by typing the same command as in my menu item.

Does anybody know how to fix this?
