In gnubg this is called the "Egyptian" rule. If you switch on this
option then only 5 men will be allowed on a point.

I think the "Egyptian Rule" was removed some years ago.

About the original question: I think it's best too keep the software to handle only one set of rules. There are many local variants out there, and the number of combinations can be enormous.
