[Bug-gnubg] A question about the tutorial mode

I have installed GNUBG for use in learning how to play backgammon.

I spent about 3 hours and played 20 games or so using the tutorial mode.
I lost all the games. All the doubles I was advised to take failed. I
kept track of what I called a hit count. The machine hit me about 5
times for every time I could get a hit.

My question is what is the tutorial mode actually showing.
