To the developers,
This is a very common mistake, caused because most Windows programs retain the settings when OK is pressed. I don't know the default behaviour on Linux or Macs, but I think gnubg would be more user friendly if it saved settings by default.
Maybe there ought to be some discussion about which settings are saved and which are not. E.g. Player names?

Hi Ian,

I thought pressing OK would do the job, thus forgot about "Save settings";
however, everything is just fine now.

Thanking you very much for your prompt help,

Hi Gerhard,
The commonest cause of this problem is that you have forgotten to save the settings after making changes.
Use the Settings... Save Settings option after you make changes.
If this is not the cause, then you may have a genuine problem with your installation.
In Windows, the settings are stored in Documents and Settings\USERNAME\.gnubg\gnubgautorc.
You could look at these with a text editor to see what should be stored.
Failing that, I'm sure one of the developers will respond with more ideas.

Dear friends,

my installation (Version GNU Backgammon 0.90-mingw 20101215) does not maintain (i.e. looses) some personalyzed individual settings when/after closed down and restarted...
Is this a known bug or rather some mistake on my part?

Appriciating your advise,

Gerhard Weinwurm

PS: I like GNU Backgammon very much, it´s really great!
