On second thoughts, --local-dir is easy enough to use that if the
regex code doesn't change much in future, I'll probably just maintain
RE_PLAIN. Congratulations to whoever dreamed up the simple override
mechanism, plus ten bonus points for being able to use diffs as well
as plain files.
