Hello,
When you write to a mailing list, such as bug-gnulib, please always write
plain-text mails, not HTML mails. There must be a switch in your mail program
to ensure this.

Thanks for the details. Can you please give more details:
- What shell were you using? Cygwin bash or MSYS or else?
- The directory in which you executed the "make check", on which kind of
file system was it? NTFS of a local disk? VFAT on a local disk? Remote
mounted via CIFS (SMB)? Or else?
I'm asking because obviously, since the test exists for 4 years, we would have
noticed if it was failing on _all_ Windows XP systems. So something is likely
particular on your system.
