        Yes.  Check out gnupress/texpress/gnupress.tex for actual code.

        Not in CVS Texinfo.  However, I think we may change this
behaviour again.

        Er, only "solved".  We'll probably want to ask the GCC people to
stick to one style for consistency sake.  To assist them in doing that,
it would probably be best to send them a patch.  I just think it's best
to hold off until we decide what Texinfo's behaviour would be.
