Follow-up Comment #3, bug #23603 (project gnustep):

Could you please report the gdb bug to the Debian or gdb bug trackern?
Debugging with a broken gdb really is no fun. I know that from MinGW on Win32,
where no gdb has full Objective-C support.

As for your font problem I expexct that you are using the standard art
backend of GNUstep, the one you get if you don't chose any other backend. This
already comes with a Helvetica font (but without Courier!) and there is an
additional font package for it for more fonts.

Please check in the GNUstep fonts directory, whether the Helvetica font is
installed. Normally this is /usr/GNUstep/System/Library/Fonts/, but of course
you may have selected a different setup.

There also was a small change for some 64-bit systems to GNUstep base.
Perhaps an update from SVN helps.
