problems with lzma

Hallo!

  I wanted to install icecat 2.0.0.12 but I found only a package packed by
lzma. After installing lzma I had to notify that my kernel is too old for
this package (installed four years ago). Because I do not want to install
a new kernel, I wanted to know whether it is possible to obtain the
package also in another compression mode (bzip2, gzip). A further question:
are there instructions available how to install the package? I downloaded
the beta-version 2.0.0.13 which was packed with bzip2, but I could not
find out how to install this.
