Yes and it builds perfectly under Debian Squeeze. I am yet to test
building Icecat without Freetype2 support, to see if there are any
changes in the font rendering (I suppose there is), but as soon as I
have some time, I'll give it a go and provide feedback.

Will the next Icecat release come with Freetype2 activated by default?
Since the patents have expired, I see no reason not to.
