People who don't have time to discuss that IceCat is the upstream sync of Firefox (ESR) often submit bugs to add-on developers as they were used with "Firefox". This cause confusion as IceCat actually are based on "Firefox ESR".To solve this problem, please mention "Firefox ESR" in https://directory.fsf.org/wiki/GNU_IceCat and https://www.gnu.org/software/gnuzilla/. Please confirm.Think of using "Firefox ESR" rather than just "ESR" in the release news (example https://savannah.gnu.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=8233). Also, "IceCat ESR" may suit in some places too.-- http://gnuzilla.gnu.org
I would put it like "The GNU Project keeps IceCat in synchronization with upstream development of Firefox ESR." to be even more precise.
