Unfortunately it's the middle of the pipeline that usually causes
the buffering issues and so sticking a cat --un-buffered or whatever
before of after a command will not suffice.

Should be easy enough.
I've already done the code, but I'm not sure about using
environment variables for the interface.
Need to think about it a bit more...
