Werner:

The journals require TeX source. It seems that grohtml->html2latex will
present equations as gif/pnm files, not source.

I have in mind the further use of simple shell scripts I've used to
prepare roff script for journals.

A simple (g)sed script will translate Greek/special math symbols to tex.

References in scripts are processed via grefer to place keywords. Simple
(g)awk and (g)sed script put collected references into a file for further
processing to bibtex format, then are read back into the final file.

The two areas I have not developed is to process groff-embedded PostScript
file (which I assume is an easy substitution), and some way of coverting
relatively simple tables.
