This is bad news.  Do you have time to check whether 1.19 works fine?
If the answer is yes, can you narrow down the change in the CVS which
causes the failure?  I know this is quite time consuming, but I don't
have access to your environment, and it looks like a serious problem
which apparently doesn't show up on GNU/Linux.
